Last year I picked up a used MakerBot 2 from my company charity auction. One of our departments bought it, used it for a while, but had finished their project and no longer had plans for it. I was able to pick it up for less than $600! I had big plans for printing Heroes of the Aturi Cluster terrain bits, but got sidetracked a bit. For a few months.
Okay, for over a year.
Finally a few weeks ago I blew the dust off and decided it was time to get something done. I have been working on some really fun stuff for “Castle Panic” (which I will show later) but my proudest item so far is an Iris Box. They’re called that because the top opens like a camera lens.
How cool is that?
I’ve actually printed two different sets of stuff for Castle Panic. The first was something I found on Thingiverse which is a repository of community-contributed 3D designs. The second is something I found on a personal blog, and it’s the one I’m going to be finishing I think. Here’s a teaser “work in progress” shot:
I am going to prime and paint those towers, then work on the Wizard Tower expansion. I have also printed some fun bits for Dead of Winter and also Forbidden Island and…well, you’ll have to stay tuned for more details.
And pictures. 😎
